Upper Austria is a federal state of Austria located in the north of the country. It shares international borders with Bavaria and the South Bohemian Region, as well as domestic borders with Salzburg, Styria, and Lower Austria.
The regional housing market is slightly cheaper than the Austrian average, though prices vary significantly between municipalities. Linz holds far more of the housing stock than any other city, with prices that sit above the regional average. Wels and Steyr also contain notable concentrations of housing, though both are cheaper than Linz. The most expensive homes are found in Gmunden and Bad Ischl, where property costs far more than the regional average, while Ried im Innkreis is one of the cheapest towns in the region.
