Île-de-France is an administrative region in north-central France, bordered by Hauts-de-France, Grand Est, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Centre-Val de Loire, and Normandy. The region is home to Paris-Saclay University, one of its major educational institutions.
As a whole, Île-de-France is a very expensive part of France, with property prices sitting well over twice the national average. Paris holds far more of the housing stock than any other municipality in the region, and its homes are among the dearest. Outside the capital, prices vary significantly between the surrounding towns. Boulogne-Billancourt and Issy-les-Moulineaux are expensive locations where property costs much more than the regional average, whereas Saint-Denis and Aubervilliers are much more affordable, with prices falling well below the average for the region.
