Porto is a district of Portugal, serving as an administrative and electoral unit in the north of the country. It shares borders with the districts of Braga, Vila Real, Viseu, and Aveiro. The region is defined by its Atlantic coastline and the path of the Douro River, which meets the ocean here.
The housing market is concentrated heavily in the city of Porto and neighbouring Vila Nova de Gaia, which together hold the vast majority of the region's homes. The city of Porto and the coastal municipality of Vila do Conde are the most expensive areas to buy property, while inland Valongo is the cheapest.
