Drenthe is a province of the Netherlands, situated in the northeastern part of the country. It shares borders with the Dutch provinces of Overijssel, Groningen, and Friesland, as well as the German state of Lower Saxony and the districts of Emsland and County of Bentheim.
The housing market in Drenthe is generally cheaper than the average for the Netherlands. Most of the housing stock is concentrated in Emmen, Meppel, and the provincial capital of Assen. Emmen holds the largest share of homes in the region, with prices sitting well below the regional average. Assen is also relatively inexpensive, while Meppel and Hoogeveen sit closer to the average regional cost. The most expensive properties in the province are found in the rural municipalities of Westerveld and Midden-Drenthe, where home prices are significantly higher than in the larger urban centres.
