Central Hungary is a statistical territorial entity located in the centre of Hungary. The region spans an area of over six thousand square kilometres, rising to its highest point at the peak of Csóványos. It is the most populous administrative division of the country, containing the national capital and its surrounding metropolitan area.
Central Hungary is a particularly expensive part of the country, with property prices sitting well above the national average. Budapest holds almost all of the region's housing stock, far more than anywhere else, and prices in the capital remain higher than the regional average. The surrounding towns hold only tiny fractions of the market. Among these smaller markets, Dunaharaszti and Vecsés are the most expensive options, with prices that exceed the regional average. Conversely, Cegléd and Sülysáp represent much cheaper alternatives, where homes sell for a long way behind the prices commanded in Budapest or Dunaharaszti.
