The Plzeň Region is an administrative territory in the west of Czechia, sharing an international border with Bavaria. It also borders the South Bohemian Region, the Central Bohemian Region, the Ústí nad Labem Region, and the Karlovy Vary Region. The terrain sits at an average elevation of 465 metres above sea level, spanning a total area of over seven thousand square kilometres.
The region is generally cheaper for property than the Czech average, though prices vary significantly between municipalities. Plzeň itself holds far more of the housing stock than anywhere else in the region, with prices that sit above the regional average. By contrast, smaller towns like Klatovy and Tachov contain only tiny shares of the local market. The most expensive properties are found in the mountain resort town of Železná Ruda, where prices are much higher than in the regional capital, while the cheapest homes are located in Planá.
