Liberec is a statutory city in the north of the Czech Republic, serving as the administrative capital of both the Liberec Region and the Liberec District. It lies on the Lusatian Nysa river, situated at an elevation of 359 metres. The local economy and intellectual life are anchored by its status as a regional capital and by its higher education institutions, which include the Technical University of Liberec and Neisse University. The city is also served by Liberec Airport.
Property prices in Liberec are slightly below the national average for the Czech Republic. The largest share of the local housing stock is concentrated in Rochlice u Liberce, which is also one of the more affordable districts in the city. In contrast, Vratislavice nad Nisou and Ruprechtice hold significant shares of the housing market but are much more expensive, with Vratislavice nad Nisou commanding the highest prices among the major residential areas. Other prominent suburbs like Františkov u Liberce and Horní Růžodol offer more moderately priced housing.
