Rendsburg-Eckernförde is a rural district in the Schleswig-Holstein region of northern Germany. Situated at a low elevation, the district shares borders with several neighbouring areas, including Dithmarschen, Schleswig-Flensburg District, Steinburg, Segeberg District, Neumünster, Plön District, and the city of Kiel.
The housing market in Rendsburg-Eckernförde is slightly cheaper than the German average. The local housing stock is distributed across several small towns, with Fockbek, Eckernförde, and Rendsburg holding the largest shares. Fockbek is the most expensive of these main residential areas, with property prices sitting well above the regional average. In contrast, Rendsburg is a much cheaper option, where homes cost significantly less than in Fockbek or the coastal town of Eckernförde. Other smaller pockets of housing exist in Altenholz, Hummelfeld, and Osterstedt, which vary in price but remain smaller in scale than the three main hubs.
