Landkreis Kassel is a rural district in the north of the Hesse region of Germany. It completely surrounds the independent city of Kassel, which is administratively separate from the district itself. The territory of Landkreis Kassel borders several other districts, including Waldeck-Frankenberg, Schwalm-Eder-Kreis, Werra-Meißner-Kreis, and Göttingen district.
Property in Landkreis Kassel is generally cheap compared to the German national average. The local housing stock is distributed relatively evenly among several small towns rather than being concentrated in one major urban centre. Vellmar holds the largest share of the district's housing and is also the most expensive town to buy a home. Baunatal, Zierenberg, and Kaufungen are also priced above the regional average. By contrast, the forested area of Gutsbezirk Reinhardswald has a small share of the housing stock and is by far the cheapest part of the district, with Hofgeismar also offering prices well below the regional average.
