The Region of Žilina is an administrative region of northern Slovakia, bordering Poland and the Czech Republic. Its mountainous terrain is defined by the Western Carpathians, rising to its highest point at the peak of Kriváň. The region shares domestic borders with the Prešov Region, Banská Bystrica Region, and Trenčín Region, alongside international borders with the Silesian Voivodeship, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Zlín Region, and Moravian-Silesian Region.
Real estate in the Region of Žilina is generally cheap compared to the Slovakian average. The housing stock is concentrated in the city of Žilina, which holds the largest share of homes and stands as one of the most expensive locations in the region. Martin holds the next largest portion of the housing market, where prices sit below the regional average. Further east, Liptovský Mikuláš holds a smaller share of properties at average regional prices, while Ružomberok offers more affordable housing. The small spa town of Turčianske Teplice has very little of the region's housing but ranks as the most expensive local market.
