Aude is a department of France located in the southern Occitania region. Its diverse terrain stretches from the Mediterranean coastline along the Gulf of Lion to its highest point at Pic de Madrès. The Aude river flows through the department, which shares borders with the departments of Ariège, Pyrénées-Orientales, Haute-Garonne, Tarn, and Hérault.
