Manche is a French department situated in the Normandy region, forming a peninsula that projects into the English Channel and borders the Baie de la Seine. This coastal territory shares its land borders with the departments of Calvados, Ille-et-Vilaine, Mayenne, and Orne.
The department is generally a cheap part of France in which to buy property. Most of the housing stock is concentrated in the northern port city of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin and the coastal resort town of Granville. While these two main urban centres maintain average prices for the region, the most expensive homes are found in smaller coastal communes like Saint-Pair-sur-Mer, Hauteville-sur-Mer, and Blainville-sur-Mer. In contrast, inland towns such as Saint-Lô, Avranches, and Mortain-Bocage offer much more affordable housing options, with Mortain-Bocage being the cheapest of the major local markets.
