Calvados is a department of France located in the Normandy region, along the coast of the Baie de la Seine. The terrain rises from this northern coastline to its highest point at Mont Pinçon in the south. Calvados shares its land borders with the neighbouring departments of Eure, Manche, and Orne.
The department is slightly cheaper for property than the French average, though prices vary significantly between its towns. Caen holds the largest share of the housing stock by far, offering relatively affordable homes. In contrast, the coastal and resort towns are much more expensive. Saint-Arnoult is the dearest place to buy in the department, with prices far higher than the regional average, followed by other coastal communities such as Blonville-sur-Mer and Cabourg.
