Aisne is a department in the northern Hauts-de-France region of France. It shares borders with several other French departments, including Nord, Somme, Oise, Seine-et-Marne, Marne, and Ardennes, as well as a international border with the Belgian province of Hainaut.
The housing market in Aisne is cheap compared to the rest of France, with average purchase prices sitting at about half the national average. Saint-Quentin holds the largest share of the housing stock by a wide margin, offering relatively inexpensive homes. Soissons contains the next largest concentration of housing and stands out as the most expensive town in the department. Chierry and Villers-Cotterêts also command higher prices than the regional average, while the prefecture of Laon and the industrial town of Tergnier offer more affordable options.
