Aube is a French department situated in the southwestern corner of the Grand Est region. It shares borders with the departments of Yonne, Seine-et-Marne, Marne, Haute-Marne, and Côte-d’Or. The territory covers a largely flat and gently rolling landscape, taking its name and physical character from the river that flows through it.
The local housing market is cheap compared to the French average. Most of the housing stock is concentrated in Troyes, which is the largest city in the department and offers homes that are relatively inexpensive for the region. By contrast, Saint-André-les-Vergers is the most expensive place to buy property in Aube, with prices far higher than those in Troyes. Other smaller towns, such as Sainte-Savine and Romilly-sur-Seine, hold much smaller shares of the market but maintain higher average prices than the regional capital.
