Upper Corsica is a French department occupying the northern part of the island of Corsica. The region is defined by its dramatic physical geography, which rises from the Mediterranean coastline to its highest point at Monte Cinto. It shares its only land border with the southern department of Corse-du-Sud.
The local housing market is slightly more expensive than the average for France. Bastia and Calvi hold the largest portions of the housing stock, though they differ in price. Bastia, the largest urban centre, is cheaper than the regional average, whereas the coastal town of Calvi sits right at the average. The inland commune of Montegrosso holds nearly as much of the housing stock as Calvi but is far more expensive, with prices that are much higher than those found in either of the main coastal towns.
