Loiret is a department of France located within the Centre-Val de Loire region. It covers a flat to gently rolling terrain of 6,775 square kilometres in the north-central part of the country. The department shares borders with seven other departments, including Essonne and Seine-et-Marne to the north, Yonne and Nièvre to the east, Cher and Loir-et-Cher to the south, and Eure-et-Loir to the west.
Overall, Loiret is a relatively inexpensive department to buy property compared to the French national average. Most of the local housing stock is concentrated in Orléans, which is also one of the more expensive locations in the department. Olivet holds a much smaller share of the housing but stands out as by far the most expensive town in the area, with prices far exceeding those in the regional capital. In contrast, other key residential hubs such as Saint-Cyr-en-Val, Saint-Jean-de-Braye, and Fleury-les-Aubrais offer more affordable housing options with prices sitting well below the departmental average.
