Cher is a department located in the Centre-Val de Loire region of central France. This landlocked administrative territory spans a largely flat terrain, sharing its borders with the departments of Loir-et-Cher, Loiret, Nièvre, Allier, Creuse, Indre, and Yonne.
The local housing market is exceptionally cheap compared to the French national average. Most of the residential properties in the department are concentrated in Bourges, which serves as the primary urban hub and has prices that align closely with the regional average. Vierzon holds the next largest share of housing, offering much more affordable options. Outside these main towns, property values vary significantly. Saint-Doulchard and Saint-Satur represent some of the more expensive locations for buyers, while Aubigny-sur-Nère stands out as a considerably cheaper alternative.
