Isère is a department of France located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The terrain is defined by its dramatic elevation, rising to its highest point at Pic Lory, and the department shares borders with several neighbours including Savoie, Drôme, and the Metropolis of Lyon.
Grenoble holds far more of the housing stock than any other municipality in the department, followed by Échirolles. While Isère is generally a cheap part of France to buy property, prices vary between its towns. Grenoble and Échirolles are more affordable than the regional average, whereas Voiron is the most expensive of the main residential areas, with prices sitting above the average for the department. Other housing concentrations are found in Vienne, Bourgoin-Jallieu, and Saint-Martin-d'Hères.
