Setúbal is a Portuguese district on the Atlantic Ocean coast, situated just south of the Lisbon region. It also shares borders with the districts of Santarém, Évora, and Beja. The territory spans both coastal landscapes and inland plains, serving as a major administrative and electoral unit in the southern half of the country.
Property in Setúbal is generally dearer than the Portuguese average. Most of the housing stock is concentrated in Almada and Seixal, which sit along the estuary opposite Lisbon, followed by the district capital of Setúbal itself. Almada and the coastal municipality of Sesimbra represent the most expensive areas to buy property in the region. In contrast, the industrial and working towns of Barreiro and Moita offer much cheaper housing, with prices falling to nearly half of what buyers pay in the district's pricier coastal and commuter hubs.
