Loulé is a municipality and city in the Faro region of southern Portugal. Situated in the Algarve, the territory sits at an elevation of 49 metres and spans from the inland hills down to the Atlantic coast. It is a major administrative and economic hub for the region, twinned with the French city of Créteil.
Property in Loulé is exceptionally expensive, with average prices sitting at more than three times the national average for Portugal. The vast majority of the housing stock is concentrated on the coast in Quarteira and the resort area of Vilamoura, which together hold most of the local market. While these coastal areas are priced slightly below the municipal average, the inland parish of Almancil is by far the most expensive district, with prices nearly triple the city average. The historic centre of Loulé (São Clemente) represents a smaller, average-priced market, while rural inland parishes like Benafim and Alte offer much cheaper, sparser housing.
