The district of Braga is an administrative and electoral unit in northern Portugal, stretching to the Atlantic Ocean coastline. It shares borders with the Portuguese districts of Viana do Castelo, Vila Real, and Porto, as well as the Spanish province of Ourense. The terrain rises from the western coast into the mountainous interior that marks the border with Spain.
Most of the housing in the district is concentrated in the city of Braga itself, which holds far more of the market than any other municipality. Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão contain the next largest shares of the housing stock. While overall property prices in the district are relatively cheap compared to the Portuguese average, costs vary between municipalities. Esposende, located on the Atlantic coast, is the most expensive place to buy property in the region. Prices in the major inland urban centres of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Guimarães, and Braga remain close to the regional average, while more rural inland municipalities like Fafe are much cheaper.
