Beja is a district of Portugal that stretches from the Atlantic Ocean coastline in the west to the Spanish border in the east. It shares its administrative boundaries with the Portuguese districts of Setúbal, Évora, and Faro, as well as the Spanish provinces of Badajoz and Huelva.
The housing market in Beja is generally cheap compared to the rest of Portugal. Most of the region's housing stock is concentrated in Odemira and the district capital of Beja, though their property markets are very different. Odemira, which sits on the coast, holds the largest share of homes and is by far the most expensive place to buy in the district. In contrast, the inland municipality of Beja has a smaller share of the market and is significantly cheaper, with prices falling well below the regional average. Further inland, the smaller municipal markets of Mértola and Moura offer even cheaper housing, with prices dropping to around half of what is typical for the district.
