La Rioja is an autonomous community of Spain, bordered by the Basque Country, Navarre, Aragon, and Castile and León. The terrain rises from the Ebro valley to the high peaks of the Iberian System, culminating at Mount San Lorenzo.
This is a cheap region to buy property compared to the Spanish average. Most of the housing stock is concentrated in the capital, Logroño, where prices sit above the regional average. Outside the capital, the market is much smaller. Lardero is the most expensive town in the region, while Villamediana de Iregua offers prices closer to the regional norm. Haro and Calahorra hold much smaller shares of the market, with prices falling well below the average for the region.
