Extremadura is an autonomous community of Spain located in the west of the country, where its highest point is Calvitero. This large region shares its borders with the neighbouring Spanish autonomous communities of Andalusia, Castile-La Mancha, and Castile and León.
Property in Extremadura is cheap compared to the rest of Spain, with average sale prices sitting at less than half of the national average. Most of the housing stock is concentrated in the cities of Cáceres and Badajoz, which are also the most expensive places in the region to buy a home. Mérida holds a much smaller share of the market, with prices falling below the regional average. Far cheaper options can be found further down the scale in Almendralejo, where housing costs significantly less than in the main urban centres of Cáceres and Badajoz.
