Lower Empordà is a coastal comarca of Catalonia, situated in the province of Girona in northeastern Spain. It shares borders with the neighbouring comarques of Alt Empordà, Gironès, and Selva. The region is defined by its Mediterranean coastline, which forms part of the Costa Brava, and its varied interior terrain.
The housing market in Lower Empordà is generally expensive compared to the Spanish national average. Most of the region's housing is concentrated in a handful of coastal municipalities, led by Calonge i Sant Antoni and Castell d'Aro, Platja d'Aro i s'Agaró. Prices vary significantly between these communities. Begur is by far the most expensive place to buy a home, with prices reaching more than double the regional average. In contrast, working coastal towns like Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Palamós hold substantial portions of the local housing stock at much more affordable prices, sitting well below the average for the region.
