Upper Empordà is a comarca of Catalonia, situated in the northeastern corner of Spain within the Girona region. It shares a land border with the neighbouring Catalan comarques of Garrotxa, Pla de l'Estany, Gironès, and Baix Empordà, as well as the French territories of Rosselló and Vallespir.
The housing market in Upper Empordà is slightly cheaper than the average for Spain. Most of the region's housing is concentrated in the coastal towns of Roses and Castelló d'Empúries, which together hold the vast majority of the properties. Figueres, the inland capital, has a much smaller share of the market and is significantly cheaper than the coastal hubs. For buyers seeking premium properties, the coastal town of Cadaqués is by far the most expensive place to buy, with prices that dwarf those in the rest of the region. Other smaller coastal towns like Llançà and L'Escala, alongside inland villages like Palau-saverdera and Fortià, also command higher prices than the regional average.
