Barcelonès is a coastal comarca in the province of Barcelona, situated within the Catalonia region of northeastern Spain. It is a highly urbanised territory on the Mediterranean coast, bordered by the neighbouring comarques of Baix Llobregat, Vallès Occidental, Vallès Oriental, and Maresme. Despite its small physical area, it is the most populous comarca in Catalonia.
The vast majority of the housing in the region is concentrated in the city of Barcelona, which is by far the most expensive place to buy property in the comarca. Property prices in the rest of the region are much lower. Badalona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat hold most of the remaining housing stock, with prices in both cities sitting at less than half of what they are in Barcelona itself. Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Sant Adrià de Besòs contain only a small fraction of the local market. Overall, average property prices across the entire comarca of Barcelonès are very close to the national average for Spain.
