Oviedo is an inland city in northern Spain, serving as the capital of the Asturias region. It sits in a hilly terrain at an elevation of over two hundred metres above sea level. The local economy and intellectual life are deeply anchored by the University of Oviedo and the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences “San Melchor de Quirós”, while the wider area is served by Asturias Airport.
When compared to the rest of Spain, housing in Oviedo is relatively cheap. Most of the residential market is concentrated in a few key districts, with Pumarín and Centro Norte holding the largest shares of the city's housing. Prices vary significantly between these neighbourhoods. The most expensive homes are found in Centro Oeste, followed closely by Centro Norte and Centro Sur, which all command prices well above the city average. In contrast, districts like Pumarín and Centro Este offer much more affordable housing options, sitting well below the average cost for the city.
