Amstelveen is a city and municipality in the North Holland province of the Netherlands. The city sits on the Amstel river, which forms its eastern boundary, and lies directly south of Amsterdam.
The local housing market is concentrated in the urbanised northern and central districts of the municipality, which sit closest to the capital. The southern part of the territory transitions into a more rural landscape, where the city has absorbed smaller settlements and agricultural land.
