Zala is a county in the Western Transdanubia region of southwestern Hungary. It shares international borders with Slovenia's Pomurska region, as well as domestic borders with Vas County, Veszprém County, and Somogy County. The county covers a varied terrain of hills and valleys in the western part of the country, stretching toward the borders.
The housing market in Zala is generally cheaper than the Hungarian average. Most of the county's housing stock is concentrated in the two largest urban centres, Nagykanizsa and Zalaegerszeg, with Nagykanizsa holding the largest share. While these major working towns offer more typical regional pricing, the property market becomes significantly more expensive in the smaller resort towns. Hévíz and Vonyarcvashegy are the dearest places to buy property in the county, with prices in Vonyarcvashegy reaching more than double the regional average. Other smaller markets like Keszthely and Zalakaros also command a premium compared to the main cities, while Zalaszentgrót remains one of the more affordable options.
