Hajdú-Bihar is an administrative county located in the eastern part of Hungary, within the North Great Plain region. It shares borders with the Hungarian counties of Békés, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén, and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg, as well as an international border with Romania to its east. The terrain is characterised by the flat landscape of the Great Hungarian Plain.
The housing market of the county is heavily concentrated in Debrecen, which holds far more of the housing stock than anywhere else in the region. Debrecen is also one of the more expensive locations, though the smaller municipality of Mikepércs has the highest average prices. Hajdúszoboszló represents the next largest concentration of homes, with prices also sitting above the regional average. In contrast, outlying towns such as Hajdúböszörmény, Hajdúsámson, and Berettyóújfalu offer much cheaper housing, with prices falling well below the regional norm. Overall, property prices in Hajdú-Bihar align closely with the national average for Hungary.
