Békés is a county located in the South Great Plain region of Hungary, sharing borders with Csongrád-Csanád County, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County, and Hajdú-Bihar County. The region is situated in the eastern part of the country, bordering Romania to the south and east.
Property in Békés is generally cheap compared to the rest of Hungary. Most of the housing stock in the county is concentrated in Gyula and the county seat of Békéscsaba, which are also the most expensive locations to buy a home in the region. Szarvas is another high-priced town, though it holds a very small share of the local housing. In contrast, the town of Békés offers more affordable options, while Sarkad is the cheapest of the local property markets.
