Waldeck-Frankenberg is a rural district in the north-west of the Hesse region of Germany. This landlocked territory shares borders with several neighbouring districts, including Siegen-Wittgenstein, Landkreis Kassel, and the Hochsauerlandkreis. The terrain of the region is characterised by its upland geography, sitting at an average elevation of over three hundred metres above sea level.
The housing market of the district is relatively inexpensive compared to the German national average. Residential properties are spread fairly evenly across several small towns rather than being concentrated in one major urban centre. Waldeck and Bad Wildungen hold the largest individual shares of the local housing stock, closely followed by Korbach, Willingen (Upland), and Volkmarsen. Prices vary significantly between these communities. Willingen (Upland) is the most expensive location for buyers, with Frankenberg and Korbach also commanding prices well above the regional average. By contrast, those looking for more affordable housing find much lower prices in Volkmarsen and particularly in Hatzfeld.
