The Oberhavel District is a rural district in the north of the Brandenburg region of Germany. It sits directly on the northern border of Berlin, stretching upward to meet the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte District, and also shares borders with the Barnim District and the Uckermark District. The local landscape is shaped by its position within the flat North German Plain, lying at an elevation of just 67 metres above sea level.
Hennigsdorf holds far more of the housing stock than anywhere else in the district, with Oranienburg a long way behind in second place. Property prices across the Oberhavel District sit slightly above the German national average, though costs vary significantly between individual municipalities. Birkenwerder and Hohen Neuendorf are the most expensive places to buy a home, with prices well above the regional average. By contrast, the rural Löwenberger Land is the cheapest part of the district, where homes cost a fraction of what they do in the pricier suburban towns closer to the Berlin border.
