The Arrondissement of Mons is an administrative division in the Hainaut province of Wallonia, situated in the south-west of Belgium along the border with France. The terrain is mostly low-lying land, sitting at an elevation of just twenty-six metres above sea level.
The housing market is concentrated heavily in the city of Mons itself, which holds far more of the region's homes than any other municipality. Property buyers will find that the arrondissement is generally cheap compared to the rest of Belgium, though prices vary significantly between towns. Mons and Saint-Ghislain are the most expensive areas to buy property in the region. In contrast, towns like Colfontaine, Boussu, and Quaregnon offer much cheaper housing, with prices sitting well below the regional average.
