Wetteraukreis is a rural district in the Hesse region of Germany. Located in the central part of the country, it shares its southern border with the city of Frankfurt and is also bordered by the Hochtaunuskreis, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Gießen District, Vogelsbergkreis, and Main-Kinzig-Kreis. The terrain of this administrative district spans over eleven hundred square kilometres of rolling landscape.

The local housing stock is distributed relatively evenly among several small towns rather than being concentrated in a single dominant city. Bad Nauheim holds the largest individual share of the region's housing, followed closely by Bad Vilbel and Büdingen. Real estate values vary significantly between these locations. Conversely, towns like Nidda and Butzbach offer much cheaper housing options, with prices falling well below those found in the more central areas.
