Hochtaunuskreis is an administrative district in the German state of Hesse. Located in the Taunus mountain range, this forested and hilly region sits directly north-west of Frankfurt, sharing its southern border with the city. It also borders the Wetteraukreis, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Limburg-Weilburg District, Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis, and Main-Taunus-Kreis.
Property in Hochtaunuskreis is significantly more expensive than the German average. Bad Homburg vor der Höhe holds the largest share of the housing stock, followed by Oberursel and Neu-Anspach. Prices vary widely across the district. Königstein im Taunus and Oberursel are the most expensive towns for buyers, with prices well above the regional average. In contrast, Steinbach (Taunus) and Weilrod, located further into the rural hills, offer much cheaper housing, costing roughly half of what buyers pay in the most expensive towns.
