Description
Royal and elegant, with panoramic views over the marina and the Oosterschelde. Here you live literally at the highest point of Dana Dock; a place where inside and outside flow into each other and the view changes daily with the light of the water.
With restrained elegance, Dana Dock rises at the Sluisplateau in Wemeldinge. Here, stone, glass and refined lines come together in a design that effortlessly blends with the surroundings and at the same time forms a striking new landmark. Inspired by the charm of the village and the power of the Oosterschelde, the building exudes calm, balance and refinement.
Designed by experienced architects and realized with an eye for detail, every element testifies to craftsmanship and sustainability. From the carefully chosen materials to the harmonious façade rhythm – everything contributes to a residential complex that not only provides comfort but also beauty and value for the long term. Dana Dock stands for quality that stands the test of time.
The design for DANA DOCK in Wemeldinge by Kort Geytenbeek Architecten adds a contemporary living quality to the south side of the former lock complex, now used as a marina. The location has a pronounced maritime character, to which the architecture carefully connects. The apartment complex is set up in a U-shape, creating a sheltered inner world that contrasts with the more formal appearance of the outside.
The facades on the outside are constructed from masonry volumes, neatly arranged and interrupted by horizontal concrete bands and balcony floors. This gives the building a clear rhythm and a businesslike, representative appearance towards the harbor. Dark brown gables and facade finishes emphasize the open character of the apartments and give a contemporary appearance.
The top floor is designed to be set back and executed in a different brick color. This setback reinforces the horizontal image and creates space for spacious terraces with panoramic views over water and surroundings, which is enhanced by the glass balustrades.
The interior side of the ensemble is deliberately designed in a more informal style. Here, a more human scale has been chosen, with galleries that vary in width and thus create a lively image. At strategic points along these galleries, there are protrusions that add extra dynamism and playfulness to the facade. The materialization supports this design: lighter bricks on the lower floors and a mixed beige brick for the upper floor create layering and nuance.
