Description
Spacious homes on the first floor with bright interiors and a view of the charming village, where the two windmills of Wemeldinge form the backdrop. Here you live with village life within reach, while the harbor is just around the corner.
With understated elegance, Dana Dock rises on the Sluisplateau in Wemeldinge. Here, stone, glass, and refined lines come together in a design that effortlessly blends into the surroundings and at the same time forms a striking new landmark. Inspired by the charm of the village and the power of the Eastern Scheldt, the building exudes peace, balance, and refinement.
Designed by experienced architects and realized with attention to detail, every element testifies to craftsmanship and sustainability. From the carefully selected materials to the harmonious facade rhythm – everything contributes to a residential complex that not only offers comfort but also beauty and long-term value. Dana Dock stands for quality that stands the test of time.
The design for DANA DOCK in Wemeldinge by Kort Geytenbeek Architecten adds a contemporary living quality to the southern side of the former lock complex, now used as a marina. The location has a distinct maritime character, to which the architecture carefully adapts. The apartment complex is set up in a U-shape, creating a sheltered inner world that contrasts with the more formal appearance of the exterior.
The facades on the outside are constructed from brick volumes, neatly arranged and interrupted by horizontal concrete bands and balcony floors. This gives the building a clear rhythm and a businesslike, representative appearance towards the harbor. Dark brown storefronts and facade finishes emphasize the open character of the apartments and create a contemporary look.
The top floor is designed and executed in a recessed manner and in a different brick color. This setback reinforces the horizontal image and creates space for generous terraces with panoramic views over water and surroundings, which is enhanced by the glass balustrades.
The interior of the ensemble is consciously designed in a more informal way. Here, a more human scale has been chosen, with galleries that vary in width and thus create a lively image. At these galleries, protrusions are located at strategic locations, which provide extra dynamics and playfulness in the facade image. The materialization supports this approach: lighter brick on the lower floors and a mottled beige brick for the top floor create layering and nuance.
